Sen. [at the time] Joseph R. Biden, Jr. of Delaware, accused the Reagan administration of appointing judges of lower and lower character by “running these bimbos through.” Mr. Safire points out that bimbo refers to a female dimwit and is sexist. Sen. Biden really wants to use bozos. Of course, Mr. Biden has a reputation for blowing up the English language periodically.
